Removable dentures are particularly useful when several teeth are missing. Partial dentures are attached to the remaining teeth using retaining elements, such as metal clasps (model moulded dentures). There are also aesthetically very high-quality partial dentures in combination with press studs (hybrid dentures), where no metal is visible and the hold is even better. Partial dentures can also be anchored to implants instead of teeth if there are too few teeth.
If no more teeth can be retained, complete dentures are used. The complete denture can also be anchored to implants if necessary, which can significantly improve retention and speech function.
Removable dentures are often the cheaper option compared to fixed dentures, but they are also slightly less comfortable. Removable dentures should be removed from the mouth daily to clean them.
